DTD at MC #92

> Hello everyone and welcome to summer 2013,
>
> Well the school year has come to an end and the Delts have scattered to various parts of the country.  It was a productive year for the guys and I’d like to welcome the newest members of our alumni group.
>
> As we have been discussing over the last several months, the Undergrads have been planning on getting our 5 time winning Hugh Shields banner framed and displayed at the shelter.  We have had several Alums offer to help with the funding of this project.  The order has been placed, the choices have been made, and the funding is in place.  The project will be finished in time for it to be installed at the shelter by the time school starts in the fall.  And a huge THANK YOU goes out to the members of the Delt class of 1993 for offering to pay for the project.  They decided that they wanted to do something to honor their 20th Anniversary.  So to the rest of you who offered, you’re off the hook, but the House Corp. will still be very happy to accept your donation.

> You are going to want to come to Homecoming this year to see it.  Speaking of Homecoming, don’t forget that this is the 45th Anniversary of EY being at Marietta College, and we’re having a celebration and Ferg Roast.  First the bad news, then the good.
> The Bad News is that the Homecoming Parade, that 10 minute thing, has been cancelled, no parade or candy this year.  Now the good news.  This year we are planning on an actual initiation, as we have a couple of spring pledges that will be ready for full membership at that time.  You aren’t going to want to  miss this one.  Be sure to make your reservations at the various local hotels early before they all fill up.
>
> We will be issuing the 45th Anniversary edition of “Our Story”  the booklet that Dave Broome did for us for the 40th.  He is still looking for articles to include in it, and time is running out.  Please write your story and send it to either Dave or me.  You don’t have to be concerned about being an editor or proof-reader, Dave will be happy to do that.  Please send in that story about EY so it doesn’t end up being lost, it is our story and we want to keep it for “those who follow.”
>
> Along that same line, Shawn Selby (former editor of the Marcolian) has proposed doing a couple of stories of our history that he feels are a very important part of it.  He wants to do a story on our Little Sisters and their part of our history.  He also wants to write a story of probably the darkest time in our history, Peter Cartoun’s suicide.  So he has requested that I send him the email addresses of the people of that time.  If you don’t wish to be contacted about these stories and you are from those periods, please drop me a line so I can tell Shawn.  Thanks.
>
> We had our Annual Golf outing in April and had 8 people play, we all had a great time and the weather was really good.  In attendance was:  JP Clowes, Jimmy Long, Kevin Oliphant, Chad Showen, Andy Byers, Jon Hartshorn, Bob Ferguson, and myself.  If anyone has any ideas how we can improve this weekend, please drop me a note.  Out of a group of 400, we should be able to do better than 8.   Please help us improve this activity.
>
> Great news, grades for the chapter for the 2nd semester were very good,  The chapter reached it’s goal of Pi as a GPA.  We finished the semester with a GPA of 3.191.  Two of the men had a 4.0 for the semester.  This semester the guys finished with the best GPA of all the fraternity’s  and managed to beat one of the sororitys.  Good semester men.
>
