While an undergraduate, I majored in accounting, minored in math and was part of the McDonough Leadership program.

I was also involved in many other organizations on campus at various times during my four years at MC (the Concert Choir, theater program, The Marcolian).

As a Delt, I served as treasurer for two terms and was part of the group that attended the Northern Division Conference when we won our third Hugh Shields award.  I also attended the Atlanta Karnea in 1994 (which was a great experience).

After graduating, I moved to Columbus to work for the accounting firm, Arthur Andersen in their audit practice. While there, I passed the CPA exam and obtained my license. After three years, I transitioned to the tax practice, where I remained until I left as a manager in April 2002 (which coincided with fall of Arthur Andersen because of the Enron scandal).  I took a position with Sterling Commerce (a subsidiary of SBC Communications, which is now AT&T), where I worked as a manager in the corporate tax department. After eight years (during which time I obtained my Masters in Taxation at Capital University Law School), I left Sterling to join Pacer International and now lead its tax department.

I have been married almost 15 years to my wife, Michelle (who is also a CPA). She is self-employed as a bookkeeper and tax preparer for our own business (Maghes CPA Services LLC).  I also participate in the business during busy seasons. We have three daughters, Sarah (13), Megan (10) and Emily (8), who are involved in many different activities (soccer, Girl Scouts, marching band and choir), which keeps Michelle and I busy.

We are also very involved in our church, Lord of Life Lutheran Church, where I am currently treasurer. Both Michelle and I have served terms on the congregation council.

My experiences as a Delt have been very rewarding and have helped me in my personal life as well as in my career. It is the close friendships I have had with my brothers and other friends on campus that have drawn me back for several Homecomings since graduation (and will continue to do so).
